Yesterday was my first day back to the gym in…about eight weeks (I think? Something like that). I was planning to go back last Monday, but then the cough started up again and bla bla bla.

The thing about Pneumonia is that it’s not one of those “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” situations. It kicks you in the chest and it takes a while to get back up. So when I say “back to the gym”, that actually means walking the treadmill for an hour.

Everyone says I really have to take it slow and ease back into activity, but when you find yourself winded after a ten minute walk when you know you are (were) capable of running 5k in an hour, it’s that’s harder and more frustrating than it sounds.

So for now, I will keep walking. I figure if I can do an hour every day this week without the cough coming back, then (fingers crossed) I might be able to start back to some of my classes next week. Which would be good for everybody because frankly, it’s getting really hard to come up with comic ideas without my primary source of <del>frustration</del> inspiration.

The recent back-dated posts have raised some questions from my RSS feeders so I’d better give a little explanation here.

March was an out-of-control month for me. Which is not to make excuses, because I was still penciling whenever I got the chance, but finding sit-down inking and Photoshop time was difficult. So there are a few weeks of blue-penciled comics scattered all over my home office here waiting for my attention. The reasons I’m doing the back-dating dump instead of just moving forward into April are that the boot-camp comics were pretty time-frame topical and I’m still holding onto my goal to have enough comics made by the end of the year to put a book together and that means I gotta do the make up work.

So, if you’re lost, check back to HERE, that’s where this story line started and read forward, there’ll be some one-of gags scattered in too but the boot-camp bit runs through the whole month.

Testing…testing…

Ok, so it looks like every thing is working again. (Crossed fingers, knocking on wood between pinches of salt over the shoulder!) That took much longer than I would have liked and thanks to everyone who has been checking-in and sent questions to the Baroness’s forumspring. She has had a lot of fun answering them and will continue to take new ones so feel free to drop over there and ask her anything on your mind.

Outside of the big computer drama the last three weeks have been heavily overloaded. The good news is that busy means working. I managed to get a lot of writing and penciling on the comic done and continue my contract work. Picked up a really fun project with some friends that wrapped up successfully just last night, and found a bunch of new ideas to explore in the weekend weigh-ins. The bad news is that the new ideas came out of a more-error-than-trial series of inspirations, I didn’t get time to sit down and do my inking, or go to the gym, or really focus my attention on a lot of the things I’m normally pretty good at keeping up on…which ironically was the point of the story line I just started in the comic. B-ugh.

More on that later, this weekend is the first Wizard World Toronto show! Despite my last few weeks absence, Brian and I will be there, in Artist’s Alley, taking commissions and sketching our brains out. I’ll have the Promises mini and Brian has another new story, Don River debuting! (I’m trying to be supportive, but his relentless self-discipline is galling.) Hope to see you there, and next week back to the business of posting comics and grousing about our wellness.

Forgive me bloggers, for I have sinned. It’s been over 5 months since my last post.

I have to admit, I’m oddly unapologetic about it. I took a new day-job that ended up eating a lot more time than I expected, but it’s been a huge learning experience, so no regrets and I’m ready to ramp back into Promises Promises with new energy! Rah! Rah! Rah!

I’m still learning the software. As far as artists go, I’m pretty old-school (yay pencils!) so if my pages or links aren’t working, odds are pretty good I don’t know about it so please drop me an email or a comment and I’ll get it figured out. You may have already noticed the snazzy new links bar and tags cloud to the left. (Did that all by myself, woot!)

So the good news is that we’re back. The bad news is that posting will still be a bit sporadic, but I’ll get it ramped back up in time for Fan expo. If not, I’ll be the one sitting in Artist’s Alley with a big “FAIL” sign.
