Say Cheese!

Here’s a fun fact from a calcium pamphlet I found at my health food/vitamin shop:

Cheese is an important ally in the prevention of cavities. If you don’t have a toothbrush handy, bite into a piece of cheese, especially if you have just eaten something sweet.  Cheese stimulates the secretion of saliva while also promoting calcium and phosphorus – two elements that contribute to healthy teeth!

So there you have it.  All things in moderation of course but  it seems our friend cheese has a undeserved bad rep.  The pamphlet goes on to discuss the benefits of protein and probiotics in some cheeses and encourages us to choose low fat or light cheese to reduce the intake of saturated fats.
