SPX and the Metric System

Got in from SPX at about 5 this morning.  It is one beautiful but LONG drive from Toronto to Bethesda and back. The miles/kilometers conversion really screwed me up and I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price of gas across the boarder, but as it turns out gallons and liters are completely different units and the price works out about the same.

Brian and I had a great time at the show, we’d definitely do that again.  Met some fantastic people, picked up some great new reading material, caught the Ignatz awards (very funny), I picked up the new Socks and Barney and got it signed. Very exciting for me, Steve Conley is easily the wittiest political cartoonist I’ve ever read and as it turns out a really nice guy.

SPX is a really different show from any I’ve been to before. No costumes or anime kids running around,  which was fine, it was nice to have longer conversations with people who were so into comics, but I have to admit I missed it. I guess the pageantry has really become part of the convention flavour for me…Although I will say, I did not miss the noise from the gaming sections. We were in Artist’s Alley at Fan Expo right near the gaming and it was fun for a while but by the end of the day it’s a bit much.

As I mentioned, we rolled in early after driving all night and I’m bagged, so I’m going to get a snack and head back to bed, see if I can be useful at work tomorrow.
